If anyone has looked at plan 054 (Podium) this easel plan came about because of the same seminar I was attending.
Looking at the flip chart that the instructors were using, it had a thin metal frame and was quite wobbly. I figured an adjustable wooden easel would look much better. I wanted it to be adjustable in height for different instructors or students and still be able to collapse for easy storage when not in use.
This easel does just that, it can be lowered for use on a table or a shorter person and it is also collapsible for storage.
I would recommend using hardwood for the frame and MDF or hardboard for the backer board. Some of the bolts have to be flush with the edge of the leg to allow it to collapse so they are mounted in recesses in the legs. T-Bolts with washers and wing nuts will make it easy to setup.
