A friend of mine gave me an entryway bench very similar to this. I thought it was so useful and didn’t take up much space by the doorway I wanted to re-create a workable plan. I modified it to dimensions that made more sense to me. I shortened the overall length and made it slightly deeper.

It’s a great place for anyone young or elderly that needs to sit down to remove or put on their footwear. The seat is also a storage area with approximately 2 cubic feet of space. The compartment is great for hat, mitts and things that kids always seems to misplace.

Very easy to build, just drill some holes and cut some curves (jigsaw or bandsaw) glue and assemble. I have provided a template for the leg blanks to simplify that operation. I have shown the storage box made with box joints, however if you are not familiar with that technique you can simply use butt joints glue and screws.

Fun project that will make a great addition to handle the clutter at your front door.
