057 Flower Pot or Keepsake Box
Flower Pot or Keepsake Box
This Flower or plant box is a very basic build project that came about as my better half was trying to find a container to put plants in the bathroom. We have a couple of built in shelves that mount up in the skylight opening. It will also make a very attractive keepsake box if you make the optional lid.
I have added an optional lid and decorative molding for those that don’t require a flower pot holder.
There are very few parts to this plan however there is some creative machining required. Cutting the cove on the tablesaw may be a new skill to some. Check out cutting a cove on the tablesaw to find the safest way to perform the operation. Marc (The Wood Whisperer) at http://www.thewoodwhisperer.com/videos/coves-on-the-tablesaw-the-parallelogram-cove-jig/ has a great free video explaining the operation of cutting coves, both symmetrical and asymmetrical. There is even a bonus video that shows you how to construct a table saw cove cutting jig. So be sure to check out that if you’ve never cut coves on the tablesaw.
Which ever box version you decide to build, I’m sure you will be pleased with the end result.
