016 Workbench: Sturdy and Inexpensive
Everyone requires a solid workbench during their woodworking years. This small bench is relatively inexpensive to build, yet strong enough to handle both hand tool and/or machine work.
As a bonus if you build it at the correct height is makes a great out-feed table for your tablesaw. Standard 2 x 4 base material, through mortise and tenon joinery, covered MDF top and 3/8” threaded rod make this bench cost effective and sturdy enough to get the job done. There is a replaceable hardboard top which is easy to replace when it becomes stained and damaged. If you install a quality vise it will be as much as the materials to build the bench. Optional cupboards and drawers can be built underneath to add storage and weight to your new bench. There is even a built in drop bar that will support long work-pieces by putting a small dowel in a suitable hole
